Volleyroo unable to capitalise against Korea

The young helloworld Volleyroos men’s team has lost a tough three-set match against South Korea at the Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup in Thailand.

In the final analysis the inexperience of the Australian team was the difference, after the team was in a position to win all three sets.

Captain Thomas Hodges led the way for the Volleyroos with 16 points.

Australia raced out to an early led in the opening set, before allowing the Koreans to take control and take the lead 26-24.

It was a similar story in the second set, with fortunes fluctuating between both teams before Korea finally took control 30-28, before wrapping up the match 25-22 in the third.

Australia has now lost both its opening matches, and will take on Japan, also winless so far, in the final pool match.

The winner of the Australia-Japan clash will avoid lining up against China, which has already secured top spot in Group A, in next week’s quarter finals.
