Volleyball Australia Events Portfolio 2020


Volleyball Australia, has been working through the potential event calendars available to facilitate Volleyball events in Australia in 2020 due to the complications imposed with the COVID19 pandemic.

The health and safety of our athletes, staff and volunteers is paramount and as such we will endeavour to be as up to date as possible and act in accordance with State and Federal Government advice as it happens.

Please note that decisions for these Calendars are subject to federal and state government directives and schools, state member associations ability to select, train and prepare teams for these competitions.

2020 Event Calendar 1

A collective decision will be made by Volleyball Australia with assistance from the states on 1 June as to whether this calendar will proceed as planned.

  • Australian Junior Volleyball Championships
    • Date: 27 Sept. – 3 Oct
    • Location: Bendigo, Victoria
    • Details: Under 14, Under 15, Under 16, Under 17 & Under 18 Divisions on offer.
    • Points to note: School Sport Australia has cancelled all SSA Championships during 2020. To ensure this age group of participants do not miss out on playing opportunities in 2020, we have included them in the 2020 AJVC event framework.
  • AJVC Development Camp
    • Date: 4 – 6 Oct
    • Location: Bendigo, Victoria
    • Details: Under 18’s camp continue as planned.
  • Australian Beach Volleyball Tour – Round 1
    • Date: 27 – 29 November
    • Location: Mollymook, NSW
    • Details: Qualification tournament on Friday 27th, Main draw to commence 28 Nov.
  • Volleyball Australia Annual General Meeting
    • Date: 27 – 29 November
    • Location: Mollymook, NSW
    • Details: National Stakeholders Meeting, AGM and possible state ED’s Meetings
  • Volleyball Super League Tournament
    • Date: 4 – 6 December
    • Location: Gold Coast, QLD
    • Details: 3-day tournament style competition.
    • Points to note: Dates overlap with the second week of “Schoolies” on the Gold Coast which finishes on 6th Dec. VA have had discussions with Sportslink who will be able to support with accommodation if required.
  • Open Championships
    • Date: 4th – 6th December
    • Location: Gold Coast, QLD
    • Details: Event to be played as a second division within the 3-day Super League tournament. Entries in Open Championships available to any association, representative and club teams who would like to participate.
    • Points to Note: Dates overlap with the second week of “Schoolies” on the Gold Coast which finishes on 6th Dec. VA have had discussions with Sportslink who will be able to support with accommodation if required.
  • Australian Volleyball Schools Cup
    • Date: 7-12 December (Opening ceremony and training day on Sunday 6th Dec)
    • Location: Gold Coast, QLD
    • Details: Event to continue as planned.
  • AVSC Development Camp
    • Date: 13-17 December
    • Location: Gold Coast, QLD
    • Details: Camp to continue as planned
