VA Launches Coaches In Residence Program with multiple opportunities available

Assistant Coaches for the VA AIS Centres of Excellence

We are seeking Assistant Coaches to work with our Men’s and Women’s Indoor Centres of Excellence in Canberra throughout 2017. Coaches may work with one or the other or both teams, but a certain amount of engagement with both teams is expected. These roles are largely professional development opportunities.

The successful applicants will gain experience working with our Centre of Excellence Head Coaches (Dan Ilott and Shannon Winzer) and with our best young talented players on a sustained basis, as well as occasional experience with our Men and Women helloworld travel Volleyroos teams when they are in Canberra. They will also have the opportunity to engage in the various professional development activities run at the AIS for elite and developing coaches across all sports.

The Centres of Excellence operate from February to November, with breaks at various times of the year.

There are three models coaches can apply as Assistant Coaches.

1. Full-Time / AIS Residential Position – Contract until December

VA AIS Centre of Excellence Assistant Coach / Sporting Schools Program National Coordinator.

In addition to part time assistant coaching duties, the successful applicant will also fulfil the Sporting Schools Program National Coordinator role part time. The remuneration for this role will include a part time income plus benefits including free boarding and all meals at the AIS.

2. Part-Time / AIS Residential Position – Short-term Appointments

VA AIS Centre of Excellence Assistant Coach Development Program

Nominees can apply for the date they wish to participate throughout the year. Appointments can be as short as a few days or as long a few months. This is an unpaid position but free boarding and all meals at the AIS are provided. Only two positions are available at any one time through out the year.

3. Casual Volunteer Position

VA AIS Centre of Excellence Assistant Coach – Casual Appointment

These are volunteer positions. The successful applicant will negotiate with the Head Coaches suitable times when they are able to assist in the program.
