Due to the escalating Novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) situation and measures recently put in place by the Australian Government, Volleyball Australia has decided to postpone all VA Junior Development Program (JDP) events that were scheduled to occur up to 8 May. This includes all JDP Development Camps and Tours, including the Junior and Youth Asian Championships Selection and Preparation camps.
The FIVB and Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) have announced the postponement of numerous international volleyball and beach volleyball events, including
the Asian Under 19 Beach Volleyball Championships, Asian Club Championships, Volleyball National League (VNL) and FIVB Beach World Tour events. It
is expected that the AVC will continue to postpone events occurring in the region in the coming months including Junior and Youth Asian Championships.
Volleyball Australia will continue to assess the developments of the COVID-19 outbreak and make decisions based on the information provided by the Australian
Government, the Australian Institute of Sport (Novel Coronavirus 2019 and Sporting Activity, the
Smartraveller Website,) and our insurers, taking into account the inherent risks specific to each activity.
The health of athletes, families and coaches is Volleyball Australia’s top priority and the decision to postpone upcoming JDP events was made in the
best interests of all involved.
