As of 31 August, Ms Catriona Tweedie resigned from the Volleyball Australia Referee Committee (VARC).
Catriona’s contribution can be described in one word “PASSION”.
Catriona has been instrumental in consulting and communicating particularly with State bodies, various sporting bodies and always striving to improve the standard of all officials.
Catriona worked behind the scenes adapting the new education framework and requirements from Volleyball Australia.Fostering the development of officials
throughout the country that saw transferable skills in both disciplines as key for the future of our officials’ development.
Catriona has also been instrumental in gaining several scholarships for Volleyball, with a passion for Women in Sports (Officiating). She was key to the success of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball event through the lead up of training, selecting and the management of the Australian officials during this time.
Highlights in Catriona’s career include Two Olympic Games in Beach Volleyball - Sydney 2000 and London 2012; A member of VARC for over ten year; key contributor/driver
of training and education programs that underpin referee courses for volleyball and beach volleyball; numerous contributions as a referee, referee
delegate, coach, and mentor.
Now as the Chair for the Victorian Referees Committee, Catriona will take on the leadership for all aspects of refereeing in Victoria. In this new role,
she will continue to assist VARC in its mission to support and develop referees and refereeing.
Catriona, thank you for the dedication, passion and desire to share your knowledge, experiences and leadership skills to the next generation of officials in Australia.Good luck with the new role in Victoria and we look forward to working with you to continue the growth of officiating.
