Shannon Winzer leaving the Helloworld Travel Volleyroos to return to Canada

After 3 years at the helm of the Women Volleyroos, as well as the Centre of Excellence for the last two years, Shannon Winzer has decided to take up an opportunity with the Canadian National Team and move back to her home town of Vancouver. Shannon has brought a new professionalism to the Volleyroos over the past three years and has improved their ranking to reach the highest they have been for several years, currently ranked 30th. VA is sad to see Shannon leave but is grateful for the enthusiasm, skill, empathy and knowledge that she brought to the Head Coach role, as well as in the role of Assistant Coach before that, and as being an enormously successful multiple AVL winning coach.

“We are sad to see Shannon leave, and it will be hard to replace her in the Women’s National Team and Centre of Excellence,” High Performance Director, John Boultbee said. “She has driven the program to a new level, and the players will be keen to progress from there in the coming years. We are actively looking for a replacement to steer the program this year and beyond. VA wishes Shannon and her family all the best back in Canada, and sincerely thank her for all she has done for the sport in Australia.”

Applications sought for Women Volleyroos Head Coach role

Volleyball Australia seeks expressions of interest from appropriately experienced and qualified coaches for the position of Head Coach of the Women Volleyroos (the Australian Senior National Women’s Team). The position is a part time contracted position, requiring availability to coach the team for the international season from May to August. The program in 2019 will involve a tour to Europe in May, possible participation in the FIVB Women’s Challenger League (awaiting details from the FIVB), and the Asian Championships in Korea in August, as well as possible other competition and preparation camps. The Head Coach is expected to be available for all those activities, as well as monitoring and communicating with the Volleyroos players throughout the year, and planning the program with the High Performance Director.

Applicants are requested to submit an Expression of Interest outlining international experience and qualifications, and availability, to the High Performance Director, john.boultbee@avf.org.au by 8th March. Further information is available from John Boultbee at this email address.
