The Australian men’s Volleyball team kept alive their chance of making it through to the next round of the World Championships in Italy with a 3-1 victory over Cameroon this morning in Bari.
The Volleyroos recovered after losing the first set 21-25 in a nervous start to win the next three 25-17, 25-22, 25-20.
Opposite, Lincoln Williams, was again the star for Australia with 22 points.
The win was Australia’s first at the 2018 titles after loses to the highly ranked Russia and the United States. With Russia, the USA and Serbia tipped to finish in the top three, this morning’s victory was crucial in Australia’s quest to finish in the top four and a place in the next stage of the tournament.
Volleyroos coach, Mark Lebedew, said after the game, “We have a great team; very skilled and efficient in all aspects of the game. I can rely on all of my players.”
Australia’s next game is against the world number 11, Serbia, before the final pool game against Tunisia.
