The Australian men’s volleyball team is out of the race to compete at the Tokyo Olympics. This follows Korea accounting for Qatar, so that Korea secured the remaining berth in the semi-finals at the Asian Volleyball Confederation Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Jiangmen, China.
Earlier, the Volleyroos accounted for India 3-1 in their final pool match but were then reliant on Qatar defeating Korea to secure a place in the semis.
Korea defeated Qatar 3-2 to qualify for the semi-finals ahead of Australia.
The Volleyroos won two out of their three pool matches but paid dearly for the 0-3 loss to Qatar.
Qatar, Korea, China and Iran have made it through to the semi-finals with the winning team at the end of the tournament qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics.
It means Australia won’t be represented in the men’s volleyball at the Tokyo Olympics after also narrowly missing out on qualifying for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
