Helloworld Travel Volleyroos go down fighting against Italy at Olympic Qualifying Tournament


The Australian men’s volleyball team has gone down to the highly ranked Italy in 5 sets in the Olympic qualifying tournament in Bari this morning.

The Volleyroos led 2 sets to 1 after winning sets 1 and 3 25-21, 26-24.

Italy then won the next 2 sets 25-17, 15-13 to secure the match.

Earlier Australia went down 3-1 to Serbia in their opening match in Bari.

The Volleyroos play Cameroon in their final game in Bari.

The top side at the end of this series automatically qualifies for next years Olympics.

If Australia fails to qualify for the Olympics through this tournament, they have a second chance in January if they finish in the top 8 in the Asian Championships.
