Exciting opportunity for Australian coach and players

Volleyball Australia, in conjunction with Asian Sports Partnership, is offering an exciting opportunity for an Australian coach and several athletes to be involved in a sports leadership and training program in Myanmar in May.

The coach and four players will take part in a 10-day Leadership and Volleyball Camp in Myanmar from May 11 until May 20.

The program, made possible through the generous support of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is part of the highly-successful Volleyball Circles Program, utilising partnerships with the Dutch-based Women Win and Myanmar-based Girl Determined.

Australian beach volleyball coach, Lauren Soderberg, said it’s a great opportunity not just to improve the standard of volleyball in Asia and impact our region with the SPORT for Change initiative, but to provide a valuable coaching and training opportunity to a leading female Australian coach and exemplary young Volleyball Australian female athletes.

“It is great that with the support of DFAT and partnerships such as that with Women WIN and Girls Determined, we are able to undertake an exciting initiative such as this,” Soderberg said.

“We have invested a lot to raise the standard of women’s volleyball within Australia, and we also want to share our knowledge as much as possible.

“This 10-day camp will not only provide great opportunities, it will also forge new friendships and open doors for future programs. And it will showcase the best of what Australia has to offer the region.”
