Canberra Heat remain undefeated heading into the second round of the Australian Volleyball Super League


The Canberra Heat, the Adelaide Storm, and the UTSSU Shield host this weekend’s second round matches in the Australian Volleyball Super League.

Canberra heads into the second round against the Melbourne Vipers as the only undefeated team in the women’s, following two wins against the Western Australian Steel last weekend.

Melbourne lost their first game against the Adelaide Storm before recovering to win the second, 3-2.

The Heat women, with Volleyroos Jenny Tait and Danusia Sipa Borgeaud, will again be one of the teams challenging for the title while Melbourne are a new combination.

In other round two matches this weekend, the Adelaide Storm are at home to the Queensland Pirates. The Adelaide team has a number of Volleyroos; Beth Carey, Rebecca Reeve, Lucy Ambagtsheer, and Tara Maland.

Queensland lost to UTSSU 2-3 in their opening game, before recovering to win the second 3-2. UTSSU are at home this weekend to the Western Australian Steel.

Western Australia will be looking to bounce back in the women’s after two losses to the Canberra Heat.

In the men’s competition, Queensland, Melbourne and Canberra are undefeated heading into round two.

The highlight this weekend in the men’s will be the matches between the Canberra Heat and the Melbourne Vipers at the AIS Volleyball facility.

Veteran Volleyroo, Travis Passier, leads a Canberra team, which includes young players Billy Greber, Deua Berry, Lorenzo Pope and Sam Flowerday. Melbourne started the Super League with two wins over the Adelaide Storm.

The other undefeated team in the men’s, the Queensland Pirates, take on Adelaide, in Adelaide. The Pirates had a 3-0 wins against UTSSU in both games in round one.

The UTSSU Shield are at home to the Western Australian Steel. Both teams are looking to bounce back following losses to Queensland and Canberra last weekend.
