The Volleyball Australia (VA) Junior Women’s Development Program (JWDP) is a national camps and international tours based program for targeted athletes from across Australia. The JWDP includes two streams: Volleyball (indoor) and Beach Volleyball (on sand). Some athletes pursue either Volleyball or Beach Volleyball, while others commit to both.

The program continuously produces an experienced pool of international quality players capable of obtaining a USA College scholarships, a professional volleyball career and suitable for selection as a senior Volleyroo. In addition to the identification and development of our future Volleyroos, the JWDP also supports the broader development of volleyball talent across the country. A complimentary purpose of the JWDP is to provide a structured coach development program to grow the coaching talent in Australia.

Athletes and coaches may represent their country on various development tours (Thailand, New Zealand & USA in 2015). The culmination of the program is Asian Championships for every 2 year cycle.

To align with the two-yearly cycle of Asian & World Under-Age Championships, the JWDP operates in squads of athletes born across a two year grouping. The current age groups are:

  • 00 National Youth Girls (athletes born 2000 or 2001)
  • 98 National Junior Women (athletes born 1998 or 1999)

These squads are applicable for both beach and indoor volleyball disciplines.

  • 96 National Junior Women
  • 94 National Junior Women
  • 92 National Junior Women
  • 90 National Junior Women
